Tottenham have made a move for Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko as Mauricio Pochettino lines-up a late triple swoop in the transfer market
The Argentinean coach has been relatively quiet so far this summer having brought in just two major new signings in Victor Wanyama and Vincent Janssen but it looks like it’s going to be a busy day in north London tomorrow.
The Telegraph claim that having seen their £12m bid for Wilfried Zaha rejected by Crystal Palace, Tottenham are looking at alternative targets and have now made an approach for Newcastle’s Moussa Sissoko.
The 27-year-old has been strongly tipped to leave St James’ Park all summer after starring for France at Euro 2016 but interested clubs have been put off by Newcastle’s inflated £35m valuation.
The newspaper suggests that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy isn’t willing to pay more than £20m for Sissoko and hopes that Newcastle will be forced to lower their asking price during the closing stages of the window as the player is desperate to move back to the Premier League.
We’ll have to wait and see whether that tactic works but Sissoko would be a very useful addition for the north Londoners as with Ryan Mason expected to leave on deadline day and Nabil Bentaleb already sold, Pochettino needs reinforcements in the middle of the park.
Sissoko is more than capable of playing in a central midfield position while he’s also comfortable playing out on the wing if needed meaning the versatile midfielder would give Pochettino plenty of options if he seals a move to White Hart Lane.
signing M. Sissoko will be a huge transfer in Tothenham's Midfield
